Vintage Rattan Stool Makeover

29 April
Hi friends! I'm still working on stool makeovers and today I have a little boho chic delight to share with you :o)

boho chic stool

I found this vintage rattan stool at Goodwill some time ago. It was only $2.99! I forgot to take a before picture but it was just old, dry rattan and loaded with cobwebs.

I sprayed it white and then gave it the dipped look by spraying the bottom portion with metallic gold.

I made a little slipcover for the top.

This fabric has cute little birds flying around. It was originally the lining fabric of a coat. I had used the outside fabric and saved the lining for a future project... like this one!

Next I made 8 tassels. I used a discarded package to make the tassels. Here's how:
  1. Wrap the yarn around the package about 20 times for each tassel.
  2. Slip it off the package and tie another piece of yarn around the center.
  3. Cut the loops at both ends and then fold in half.
  4. Wrap a length of yarn around the top third and tie to form the tassel.

Then I stitched each tassel around the edge of the cover.

And voila! We have a cute little boho chic stool!

This will be going to my space at the antique mall with all the rest of the stools I've made over!

I have a couple more stools to makeover, stay tuned!
