7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips for National Thrift Shop Day - Day 1 - Vintage Sewing Machine Drawer
15 August
Did you know that Wednesday, August 17th is National Thrift Shop day?!
If you are anything like me then you love, love thrift shops! They are full of things that can be upcycled, recycled, repurposed, and reimagined in some way or another, there are also vintage treasures to be found and inexpensive, yet stylish wardrobes to be fashioned!
In honor of the day and my love of thrifting (after all, my blog tagline is "Love Your Space - The Upcycled, Recycled, Repurposed Home"!) I have decided to make a week long party of it... thrift shop week instead of thrift shop day!
Beginning today I'll share a thrift shop flip with you each day for 7 days!
If you saw a post a couple of days ago for day 5 of thrift shop flips that was an error! I was trying to schedule my posts and got that one on the wrong day... consider it a sneak peak I guess! :o)
This first thrift shop flip began with this cute little drawer I found at one of my favorite thrift shops. I loved the shape of it. I paid $3.99 for it.
I think it was probably the center drawer on a sewing machine cabinet at one time.
It's only a few inches deep but very wide!
I started this makeover by painting it white, handle and all!
I was originally going to just make this hang on the wall but my mom had the idea to give it little feet so it could sit or hang and I thought that was a great idea!
I didn't have anything that was the right height though so I gathered up some things to create some little legs with.
Candle cups, wooden balls, and wooden tags. How do those make feet? Like this!
The drawer had these handy little cut outs where it used to slide over the drawer glides.
So this is where I placed the new legs.
Now I added a scrap of pretty contact paper inside...
And voila! I have a counter top spice caddie!!
Isn't it cute?! I put my olive oil, salt & pepper (and a pre-mixed salt & pepper) and a tiny pig cutting board in it!
And as happens with some of my projects... I love how this one turned out so I think I'm going to have to keep it! ;o)
Cute little feet right? Thanks for the idea mom!
Did you have a different idea for what you would have done with this cute little drawer?
Be sure to come back tomorrow for Day 2 of "7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips" when I'll share what I did with this angel food cake pan!
