Antique Booth Update - Moving to a Larger Space
20 June
I have a space at a local antique mall where I sell my vintage and upcycled/repurposed finds.
Not long after I moved into the tiny corner space that I first started with, I discovered that it was too small!!!
So, I told the mall owner that I'd be interested in the next size up if one were to come available in the future.
I was so surprised when only about 2 weeks after that conversation she emailed me to tell me one of their vendors was moving out and they were dividing her large space into two smaller ones.
Here it is after painting. I was so excited when she said I could paint the back wall with chalkboard paint!
I used some old, weathered 2x4s that were in my wood scrap pile to go across the top of my booth so that I could make a fun sign.
I used paper mache letters from Hobby Lobby and spray-painted them white. They are secured with poster tack.
I reused the polka-dot burlap banner that I made for my other space along the edge and tacked up some white Christmas lights behind the banner.
Then my mom and I spent almost all day today moving my stuff (thankfully it's only about 2 spaces over).
The chalkboard wall is by far my favorite part, the white pieces we hung on it really pop and we can write the price on the wall.
Even though this space is only about 3 feet wider than my last one, just that small amount of space along with another wall really made a difference (my last one was on a corner so I only had two walls)!
I was able to bring in the green microwave cart that I made over here: Microwave Cart Makeover, it's been sitting in my garage just waiting!
And I brought in this metal cabinet. I found it at the Habitat store and it's also been sitting in my garage. I knew it would look really cute with all the vintage tablecloths that my mom has for sale along with some kitchen-themed items.
Someone already asked about buying it but I don't really want to sell it just yet. I want to use it for a while so I put a ridiculously high price on it... if it sells then yippee for getting that price for it... if not then I can use and enjoy it until I'm ready to let it go for a lower price.
This weekend I got to move to a larger space at the antique mall!

Today I'm sharing my new space!
Antique Booth Update - Moving to a Larger Space!
I didn't have enough room for everything I wanted to cram, shove, artfully display in my booth. I don't know what I was so worried about at the beginning of this adventure... not enough to keep it full... pfffffft!!!

Of course, I grabbed one of those new spaces up immediately! We are allowed to paint our spaces as long as it's not some crazy color. Here is the space before I started painting.
It's about 8' wide x 10' deep and then we can come out into the pathway another couple of feet too!
Here it is after painting. I was so excited when she said I could paint the back wall with chalkboard paint!
The sides are a mix of leftover "Swiss Coffee" from my small booth and some grey that I found in my garage. It turned out to be a very, very light grey color.

What do you think? I'm really hoping that table and chair set goes soon because I have such an awesome plan for that back wall after it does!

That chalkboard wall is genius - love that you can write prices on it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the green cart is my favorite.
Oh my gosh Tania I love it! Lots of hard work but it is perfect. I hope your new space is very successful for you. How could it not be? It is absolutely fantastic. You have such wonderful stuff in there. :)

Yes, it was fun----but exhausting! I came home and crashed---well, after fixing dinner, doing a load of laundry, cooking a rack of rib bones for the dogs-----------!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really good, i think---more like a room than the other one!
Mom
I love your new booth space. You and your Mom did a great job putting it together and the chalkboard wall is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAn antique mall recently opened where I live and although it's fun to poke around, there aren't divided booth spaces so stuff is everywhere plus it's dark. I like how your mall is well lit so you can actually see everything.
Wishing you lots of success with your booth! I can't believe no one has bought the desk with the inkwells on it. I love that piece
Your booth looks AMAZING! I love the black wall, and it's so cool that you write the prices on the wall! I love it!

I featured your antiques booth at this week's Submarine Sunday Link Party! :-)
DeleteIt looks wonderful! I just opened a booth June 1. I am already finding that it is small but waiting to see if sales remain good before biting off a bigger monthly rent....
