Today is the day!
Happy National Thrift Shop Day!!😁
Today is day 6 of my series, 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips.
On yesterday's post I shared a sneak peek of today's project... a vintage bathroom scale... did you come up with any ideas of what I was going to do with it?
It is now a cute, motivational, wall hanging, hanger thingy (that's the technical term)!!
Now, I cannot take credit for this idea, I first saw it on Pinterest here: Upcycle That Old Scale. Unfortunately, the pin goes nowhere. But I thought it was such a great idea!
And I had an old thrifted scale!
First I wiped it down and then painted the old linoleum piece with white chalk paint to give myself a less distracting, clean surface for painting on.
Then I printed the quote in the size and font I liked.
I used Carbon Transfer Paper to trace the pattern onto the scale.
Just trace over the words and the carbon paper transfers it right onto your surface.
Then I used Black Acrylic Craft Paint to paint the quote.
I used my drill to make a hole for the vintage coat hook and then used E6000 Craft Adhesive and pushed the hook into the hole. Since the scale is metal the hook didn't screw in very well since there isn't really anything to screw into. But I made the hole a tight fit and then the glue will help secure it.
This scale conveniently already had holes in the back for hanging!
I just love this quote... I'm a big motivational quote girl, I write them on chalkboards, in notebooks, and pin them on Pinterest, I love them and I think they really are a great motivation since every time I walk past them I am reminded.
Unfortunately, I do not have a sneak peek for tomorrow's project... I am unprepared... so it will be a surprise... even to me since I don't know what it's going to be yet either!
P.S. I have included links to some of the products that I use for your convenience. If you make a purchase using one of these links I will earn a small commission but it will not cost you a penny more! Thank you for helping to support Little Vintage Cottage! That is cute as can be! And I recently donated a bunch of carbon paper...arrgh! Now I gotta go buy it again! Not to mention, I just threw away an old scale I had. Double arrgh! I love the new wall hanging! Imagine being able to hang a scale on the wall...I can't believe they put a built in hook back there.
