Fall and Halloween decor are some of the hardest things to put a boho spin on. I haven't seen much in the way of fall boho decorations for sale in stores.

But pumpkins are easy to find (the grocery store has them, there are pumpkin patches, and you can often find stands on the side of the road selling them) so I've gathered up some cute ideas you can DIY to get the boho look for fall.

1. Henna & Wood Burned Pumpkins Tutorial from Free People Blog

These henna-tattooed pumpkins are so beautiful, I love the green and white pumpkin colors! For these you will need:

I couldn't find the original tutorial on their blog but there is a similar idea below.

2. Henna Pumpkins by Stephanie at BABA Souk

These are made with paint pens instead of a wood-burning tool. Again with the non-traditional colors, love that! For these you will need:

Paint Pen
Henna motif pattern (link in her tutorial)

3. Pumpkin Succulent Harvest Decoration by Sara at Simply Happenstance

Using a pumpkin for a pretty boho planter is a neat idea. For this project you will need:

Spray adhesive
Glue gun and glue sticks
Moss
Succulents (she used real succulent plants, I have linked to faux in case you want to use those instead)

4. DIY Faux Succulent Boho Pumpkin Planter

5. Boho Glam Pumpkins by Erica at Designing Vibes

These are made using premade trim, what an easy way to give these a boho-chic spin! Nothing screams boho more than macrame! For these you will need:

6. Kilim Inspired Painted Pumpkins by Jennifer Rizzo

I love these, you could use your favorite rug or pillow to inspire your design! For these painted pumpkins you will need:

Paint Pens
Craft paint
Craft paint brushes
Matte varnish (if you plan to display outside)

7. Pumpkins with Tassels by Landee at Landeelu

The link leads to a free e-book for making tassels. These are perfect if you don't want to do anything to the pumpkin itself. For these you need:

8. Nailhead Pumpkins by Lovely Indeed

These are so cool and unique, they are made with upholstery tacks. For these you'll need:

Aren't these beautiful? The link I had for these no longer works but all you really need for these are the tools to hollow out your pumpkins and a drill

You could definitely do this on real pumpkins but for the amount of time that would be involved, I would prefer fake pumpkins so you can preserve your work! These would be fun to make with kids too. The link no longer works though.

Paper mache pumpkin (optional)
