10 Easy Easter Baskets to Make With Recycled Materials
27 March
If you are reading this post just days before Easter and still don't have an Easter basket for everyone (your kids, grandkids, friends, etc.), well I've got you covered with this post.
Today I'm sharing 10 easy last-minute Easter baskets that you can make with recycled materials.
I would be willing to bet that you already have these things around your house!
10 Easy Easter Baskets to Make With Recycled Materials
This is a roundup of some of the cutest ideas for Easter baskets made with recyclables, they are great for giving to children because let's face it, kids are all about the candy and toys IN the basket rather than the basket itself! 😆
But they can also be dressed up for adults with things like paint, pretty paper, etc., for a more sophisticated look.
Idea #1 - Recycled Plastic Food Containers
A recycled plastic milk jug makes the cutest bunny Easter basket.
This one is from Dudley's Candies but unfortunately, their website is no longer accessible. It's pretty easy to see how it's made though.
- Cut a hole in the side of the milk jug opposite the handle.
- Use white and pink felt to make some ears, glue them to the sides of the top, and add rick-rack trim.
- Use cardboard or craft foam for feet.
- Add large white pom-poms and a pink pom-pom for a nose, pipe cleaners for whiskers, and felt for teeth.
- Add large googly eyes and a large pom-pom on the back for a tail.
Here are a couple of versions of baskets made from recycled soda bottles.
I was unable to find a valid source for this one but again, it looks pretty simple.
- Cut the bottom off of a soda bottle.
- Cover the cut edge with washi tape or ribbon and add rick-rack trim.
- Glue a pipe cleaner on the inside edge for a handle (I would also cover it with tape for added stability)
- Add stickers for embellishments.
Here is another version from Adrienne at Crafty Little Gnome.
Here is one I made out of a plastic yogurt container: Recycled Yogurt Container Easter Basket. These would be great for co-workers.
Idea #2 - Recycled Household Product Boxes
Household product boxes like cereal and tissue boxes, are great for recycling into Easter baskets.
This one is made from a cereal box, you would never know would you? It's from Noreen at Crafty Journal.
I made one from a tissue box: Recycled Tissue Box Easter Basket. They have such pretty designs these days.
Idea #3 - Paper Products
Use old greeting cards to make a pretty basket like this one from In Joy Treasures on Etsy.
How about one made from paper plates? This one is from Kerry at Blissful Domestication.
It has already been sold but look at all these beautiful examples from other shops: Crochet Greeting Card Baskets or here is a great video tutorial for making your own from Yoyomax on Youtube!
And oh my gosh, look at these pretty baskets made from coffee filters!! They are from Debbie at One Little Project. It looks like a little flower!
There you have it, ten easy ideas for DIY Easter baskets that you can make from the recycle bin!
I hope that you enjoyed these ideas! If you did, I would love it if you would share it!
