Upcycled Tennis Racket Press Shelf
16 June
Today my parent's and I are having a yard sale so yesterday I cleared out a bunch of stuff from my garage to bring to the sale.
That little hoarder's path that allowed me to walk from one end of the garage to the other is getting wider!!
I also uncovered some treasures in the garage that I forgot I had! I see more fun upcycling projects in my future!
Today I'm sharing another Operation Garage Cleanout transformation, this one is an old tennis racket press!

Honestly, I didn't know what these things were called until I was scouring Pinterest for ideas. I was calling it a tennis racket frame but actually, it's a press, they were used to keep wooden tennis rackets from warping.
This was a very simple project but I really love how it turned out!
I made the shelf from just a simple piece of wood cut to size. It is held in place with wood glue.
It's perfect for a couple of little knick-knacks!
I like the old printing on the press.
I did put a little bit of stain on the shelf to try and match it to the press, but a little Howard's Feed-n-Wax was all the press needed!
I'm planning to use this in my hallway gallery wall I'm collecting items for.
I found this interesting article all about Racket Presses, it includes an IMPRESSIVE collection of presses with pictures and dates for every kind of press imaginable, I never knew there were so many!!
I think a grouping of three of these hung vertically on a small wall would be so cute!
