Vintage Children's Lawn Chair Makeover
02 June
I love the old-fashioned aluminum lawn chairs that have colorful webbing woven onto the chair, they remind me of simpler times, sunny summer days, and grandparents sitting outside chatting while the grandkids play in the pool. 😊
And they are very easy to store since they fold up almost flat! I have three (one regular chair, one rocker, and one lounger), and now I have one more to add to the mix!
This is another find from the garage hoard, I don't even remember where I got this but I just thought it was so cute... a miniature version of the adult chairs!!
Here is what it looked like when I got it though, it had seen better days am I right?! 😬
Look at the size comparison! Is that not the cutest little chair you've ever seen??!!
These chairs (the big ones too) are SO easy to fix up! Most of them have normal screws holding the webbing on.
The webbing basically just fell apart in my hands it was so old and brittle. Once I had the old stuff removed and was left with the bare metal frame I used steel wool to clean it up.
You can still find the webbing pretty easily. I see it all the time at thrift shops and I actually think you can buy it new still.
I found this package for just $1 and it there was more than enough to redo this little chair.
I won't go into the details of how to re-web a chair in this post. It is pretty self-explanatory but you can check out this post for more details.
I chose to do this little chair in just one color but as you can see from the example above it's fun to use several colors for a fun, bohemian look!
Isn't it so sweet now??
Squeeee!!! 😁
It's not like I have anyone small in my life right now but I don't think I can part with this!
My teddy bear fits nicely!
You can find lots of vintage replacement webbing on Etsy, like this lot from It's Your Daye.
