Cozy Winter Mantle Decor
01 January
Happy New Year!
Now that the new year is here I'll be taking down my Christmas decor. I always find it just a little depressing and the house seems cold and barren when it all gets packed away though. And depending on where you live it's often just a long period of dull, grey skies and cold, dreary weather for a while 😢 (it seems never ending sometimes).
I decided to lift my spirits and create some cozy winter vignettes in my home to keep that warm, cozy feeling just a little bit longer.
As I'm packing up all the Christmas decor I'll keep my eye out for things that are more neutral in nature, things that say winter rather than Christmas.
To create this mantle I knew I wanted some pretty lights, I took these off my tree and just sort of draped them around on the mantle and then nestled things in here and there.
I am using neutrals for this display so I put a frosted little tree in a belly basket and then draped a soft grey throw in the basket.
I used a sign I already had to create this "Bring on the Cozy" sign.
I already had this sign so I used it to create my cozy sign.
I just printed the new sign on regular printer paper and then added some scrapbook paper along the sides to fill in the gaps. It is just taped over the old sign so I can remove it later!
See what that tall candlestick is made from here: Trash to Treasure Candlestick
I used some old sweater sleeves that I had leftover from another project to create little candle cozies.
And I added some pretty fairy lights inside an old jar and cut a heart out of some of the sweater to hang inside the empty frame.
You can see how to make the book page wreath here: Pottery Barn Knockoff Book Page Wreath
Do you decorate for winter after Christmas or are you just happy to put it all away?
