DIY Paint Pour Ornaments
25 November
I have been really interested in the paint pouring I've seen all over Pinterest, it looks so fun! So when I signed up for the ornament day in the hop, I knew I wanted to try paint pouring.
Thank you to DecoArt for partnering with us to bring you this DIY ornament post! Financial compensation was not received for this post, a sample product was gifted. Ideas and opinions expressed here are my own.

Here is what you need to make some DIY paint pour ornaments of your own!
Here is what you need to make some DIY paint pour ornaments of your own!
Supplies:
- Wood slice ornaments
- Paint colors of your choice (2 or 3 colors)
- White paint
- Gold paint
- Paint pouring medium
- Ribbon in coordinating colors for hanging
- Containers for mixing paint
- Wax paper
- Popsicle sticks for mixing
- Sparkle Mod Podge (optional)
I used wood slices to make my ornaments because I had some already but you could use paper mache ornaments or just plain wood ornaments too.
The popsicle sticks are for mixing each color with the pouring medium.
This is the magical pouring medium!!
I used Oui yogurt cups to mix my paints because I have about 56 million of them 😲 and since my ornaments are small I didn't need a very large container. Any glass or plastic cup will work.
Begin by pouring a little bit of the pouring medium into each container.
Then add an equal amount of paint and mix them together well. You will mix them 1:1. I just eyeballed it, it doesn't have to be too exact.
These are the colors I used... red, turquoise, white, and gold. I feel like the white and gold are important but the other colors could be whichever colors you like.
Now you will use another empty container and pour a little bit of each MIXED color into it. DO NOT MIX!
Place the wood slice on top of the container...
... then flip it over and put it on a piece of wax paper.
Then pull the jar straight off. It will look something like this.
Pick it up and gently tip it from side to side letting the paint slide over the edges. You can kind of control how your design will go based on how you tip it. (This is why you need the wax paper!)
Set them on top of jars to dry.
Let them dry overnight.
Once they are dry, drill a small hole and string the ribbon through to hang your ornaments. I also coated mine with glitter mod podge.
I love how they turned out!
