Repurposed Sugar Tin Centerpiece
13 November
Well, I messed up big time this time... today is the second Wednesday of the month which means it's Thrifty Chicks challenge day... and that also means I missed it 😥
Maybe it still counts since technically I am still posting on Wednesday, but very late Wednesday and after all my friends have already posted their amazing projects.
Better late than never though I say!
The Thrifty Chicks challenges are where a small group of blogging friends and I get together on the second Wednesday of each month for a repurposing project. We have themes and this month our theme is a seasonal centerpiece made from a thrifted find.
It doesn't need to be filled all the way, just enough to give it a little weight and keep my flower stems arranged where I put them.
Now, I've said it before... flower arranging is not my thing so I can't really give any good tips... I just started sticking stuff in until it looked pleasing to my eye 😊
Once I had the arrangement done I hung the canister lid on with a piece of wire.

Lately, I have been really enamored with copper. I think it's so pretty and I've been collecting some to put in my kitchen.
Lately, I have been really enamored with copper. I think it's so pretty and I've been collecting some to put in my kitchen.
I picked up this vintage copper sugar canister at Goodwill just to have... but then when I was thinking about what to make for this challenge this canister popped into my head, I thought it would make a great repurposed centerpiece!
Now, I didn't want this to be a permanent repurpose of the canister. I am easily bored so I wanted to be able to take this back apart later 😁
So, I used some poly pellets that you would use for stuffed animals to fill the canister so that I could arrange my flowers.

Then I just started sticking in some silk flower stems that I had.

Once I had the arrangement done I hung the canister lid on with a piece of wire.
I used this centerpiece in my Versatile Fall Table Setting.
