DIY Shamrock Wreath for St. Patrick's Day
As I was decorating for Valentine's day, I went through my decorations and decided that I didn't need a couple of things anymore. One was a garland that was made from styrofoam hearts. I don't think I've put it up in a few years so I decided to repurpose some of the hearts and make something new!
DIY Shamrock Wreath for St. Patrick's Day
It's time for the February Pin Challenge! The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month's challenge is all about Spring Wreaths.
THIS is the Pin that inspired me.
And here is how I made my version!

- Fabric of your choice
- Green Burlap for the stem
- Ribbon (I used about 5 different kinds)
- Florist's Wire
- Craft Glue & Hot Glue
- Vintage Button
- Wooden Tag
- White Craft Paint
- Green Sharpie Pen
Tear some 1" strips of the fabric. Each heart takes about 2 lengths of the torn fabric strips, depending on the length.
Wrap each heart with strips of fabric, use craft glue to start the end of one of the torn strips of fabric. You only need to tack the end with glue, then begin wrapping the fabric around.
Then add a bead of glue to attach two heart sides together and then wrap with more fabric.
Do the same with the other heart.
Cut a piece of cardboard in the shape of a stem.
Cover with a piece of green burlap.
Use hot-glue to tack the fabric down on the back.
If you want the stem to be polka-dotted like mine, then you'll use white craft paint and the end of a large paintbrush to make the polka dots.
To make the messy bow, cut 5 or 6 different kinds of ribbon into about 6-inch lengths. Don't try to be too exact with the measurements, just eyeball it. That's what makes a messy bow like this "work".
Make two sets and stack them up into two piles.
Then lay one stack crosswise over the other, tie with a piece of florist wire.
You can trim the ends of some of the ribbons and then add a button on top to finish it off.
Make a "LUCKY" tag with a tag and a green Sharpie. My tag was wooden and I painted it white.
Here is my finished wreath! Pretty cute yah?
I mentioned once that I don't have many Valentine's Day decorations and I have even less for St. Patrick's Day so I'm happy to add this to my decor!
I hope you'll stick around and check out the other ladies' challenge wreaths!
