I have a fun decorating idea that you can use and it won't cost you a penny! Don't believe me?
Well, you're probably already on your way if you are like a lot of people who have an exercise bike or treadmill with clothes hanging off of it!
What am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about using clothing to decorate your home! Now you don't have to feel bad about the treadmill buried under all that clothing because using clothing in your home decor is a "thing"!
If it's not really a thing then I am officially declaring it a thing right now 😂
How to Use Clothing to Decorate Your Home
Clothes are perfect for home decor... I mean, we pick out these clothes because we like the way they look right? They are pretty, colorful, have interesting patterns, textures, and shapes... why not use them to decorate with?
Here are some examples from my home.
This is right when you come into my living room from the front door.
I have a coat rack hanging on the coat closet door and I have a couple of hats and a pretty scarf on display there.
Here is another example on my bedroom door.
I have several jumpsuits that I have hanging here. They are almost too long to fit in my closet and so I thought why not just display them?
I am using a poncho as a dresser scarf.
There are two pieces of clothing covering this chair, a scarf and a pink poncho sweater draped over the back.
I even kind of like the way my closet looks just leaving it open!
I have pinned some more beautiful ideas that I found, these are a few of my favorites:
Here is another spectacular closet, it would be such a shame to hide it behind closed doors!
I think the key here to keep it from looking like... well... just a closet full of clothes, is to add baskets, vintage suitcases, and trunks to store some things.
If you have some colorful or cool-looking belts, they can be used as decor too.
And the same thing with jewelry! Display them in trays and baskets and mix in some other items like vintage perfume bottles, metal, glass or wood trinket boxes, leather pouches, etc.,
Shoes are interesting to display too! These are displayed in a vintage metal cubby shelf.
Whoa, baby!!! I am pretty sure I need a vintage glass cabinet now in my room after seeing this! 😍
Hats can be hung on the wall.
And here are some more hats on display (in yet another vintage china cabinet)!
I think this look works really well with the eclectic boho look which is kind of laid back and unconventional anyway and using clothing adds color, texture, and just more interest and quirkiness.
I hope that these ideas make you rethink your clothes... did you go to your closet and look at it with new eyes?!
PIN ME!
Well, i've used clothing to decorate chairs and hang from doors forever, so it's good to know it's a "thing" and not just laziness! LOL!
