Miniature Boho Room in a Repurposed Alarm Clock

30 September

Do you remember when I made the little boho sitting room inside a repurposed alarm clock?

No? Or just want to see it again? You can check it out here: A Miniature Boho Scene in a Repurposed Alarm Clock.

At that time I mentioned that I had seen another similar alarm clock but didn't get it because we were moving and I was trying not to buy more stuff but several people insisted that I must go get that one I had passed by!

I didn't get that one but I knew I would come across another soon enough, I see them quite often at the thrift stores. So, you guessed it! I created another one!

Here is what this alarm clock looked like when I picked it up for $1.99 😖

I took it all apart in order to get the clock and dinosaur picture out. (I am so glad I didn't have a boy because I think this thing is hideous! 😂) and then reassembled it without those parts.

Then I set to work creating my little miniature room inside!

I started by making the carpeted platform that everything sits on. I used a piece of upholstery sample fabric and a scrap of cardboard.

I wanted to create a pendant lamp for this little room so I used a blind pull from the wooden blinds that we removed from our basement, some jewelry chain, and a white pearl bead for the light.

And I hung it from the clock by gluing it with a scrap of fabric.

My little room also needed a chair so I created one out of a metal jewelry piece of some sort and some wood pieces. I started by snipping out one triangle from the metal piece so I could bend it up a little to form what resembled a Papasan chair. Then I painted it white and glued it to the stacked wood pieces.

I made a little cushion for it with a scrap of old quilt fabric.

And I put that in the room with a tiny crochet medallion for a throw rug.

Now for some plants... I used some pieces from some fake plants I had and the middle one is from our sushi dinner although I didn't end up using that one!

I painted the pots and put them in place. Here's what it looks like from the back so far. You can see how the pendant light is attached here too.

To create the back wall, I used a pretty tissue box I saved. I also added a plant shelf to the back with a scrap of dollhouse molding I had.

And I covered the outside with scrapbook paper.

There is also a tiny basket with a rolled-up quilt inside in front of the plants.

These are so fun to make... easier than a whole dollhouse and it exercises your mind as you hunt for things to use inside!

Well, what do you think? Should I make more of these little mini-scenes?

Both of these are listed in my Etsy shop, LVC Handmade.
