DIY Front Door Basket for Spring
The "official" first day of spring was March 20th but it's almost halfway through April and it's just now starting to show signs that spring is finally on the way!
I took down the Easter decor that I had added to my mantel and it's now back to Spring Mantel Decor.
I want to add a few spring touches to my front porch and I found a small half basket at the thrift store the other day that I thought would be a great alternative to a wreath for my front door.
Read on to see how I made my wreath alternative door basket!

- Small door basket (I thrifted mine, this link is for some new options)
- Florist's foam
- Sphagnum moss
- Hot glue gun
- Wire cutters
- Various silk flowers
- Faux bird's nest (or brown raffia to make your own)
- Plastic eggs
- Vintage sprinkler
I found the basket at a local thrift store for $1.99.
I cut a few chunks off the florist's foam to fill up the bottom of the basket to give a surface for the floral stems.
Then to disguise the foam, I used some moss to cover it.
I have lots of other old small yard hand tools, I may try making a couple of wreaths with them.
So clever; looks great :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Tuula! It seems like something that you would make although yours would be much more colorful :)
