Christmas in June - Macrame Santa Ornaments
We are at the halfway point folks... It's time for Christmas in June!
I have been running a fun series called 12 Months of Christmas if you are new. It's a monthly "craft with me" project to make a new Christmas ornament every month.
Some of them are recreations of vintage ornaments and some are new ornaments I've designed that are inspired by vintage ornaments. They are all reminiscent of the ornaments we had on our childhood Christmas trees 😊
Just think, if you make just one of each ornament, you'll have 12 adorable new ornaments to add to your tree in December! If you make two of each ornament, you'll have 24 new ornaments, that's enough for a whole tree!
They are also great for a child's hope chest... do you remember those?
This month we are doing some very basic macrame! Below, you'll find the tutorial in blog post format as well as a YouTube video!

I want to be completely transparent here and let you know that this is not my original idea. There are many similar macrame Santa ornaments (and just the little hats as ornaments) online. I do not know whose original idea it was so cannot give proper credit.

Here are the supplies you'll need to make these ornaments:
- White macrame cord
- Yarn in the color of your choice (red and green are always good choices for Christmas)
- 8mm wood rings (almost 2")
- 3/4" round wood beads
- White craft glue (I like Aleene's Tacky Glue)
- A comb or brush
- 1 toilet paper tube
- 1 embellishment (wooden hearts or stars are cute)
- Scissors
- A large needle or toothpick
Step one - Cut the macrame cord
Step two - Create Santa's beard
- fold the cord in half
- place the looped end behind the wooden ring
- bring the tails up and over the wood ring and through the loop
- pull the ends down
- pull them tight
These little guys are adorable! Love 'em!
