I am finally ready to share the first room makeover in our new motorhome. If you're new or missed the initial tour when we bought it (or just want a reminder), check it out here: New Motorhome Tour - 2015 Coachman Prism.
I began working on the bedroom makeover last October, but winter hit so I took a little break from it. Now that the weather is warming up, I finally finished it!
I'm sharing the makeover in two parts so it's not so long; part 1 is the wallpaper and headboard and part 2 will be curtains and lighting.

I started this makeover by removing everything: the mattress, headboard, TV, curtain valance, and blinds so that I could wallpaper.
For this makeover, I'm attempting to do everything as inexpensively as possible and I guess in what you'd call "renter-friendly" fashion. If we ever decide to sell this motorhome, we want to be able to take it back to factory settings.
So, the mattress and TV go back in, and the headboard and curtain valances go into the attic for storage.
I wiped down the walls first and then got to work wallpapering the whole space.
I chose this wallpaper from HAOKHOME on Amazon. I love the muted color palette and thought it was a good choice mimicking what we see in nature when we're camping 😊
It's peel-and-stick and was really easy to install. The back has a cutting grid, which is great for getting straight cuts and since the walls are so short, I didn't have any trouble.
I ordered six rolls and this is all the wallpaper I had left!
Once the wallpapering was done, I turned my attention to the headboard. I can't tell you how much I hate this headboard 😖
It was attached to the wall with just three screws and was just a piece of thin plywood with some fabric and batting and a weird foam pool noodle-looking thing at the top.
I used some thin plywood I already had and cut a new half-circle shape with my jigsaw. Everything in the RV is square and boxy, I thought it would be nice to bring in some curves.
I found two curtain panels at Goodwill to use for the new headboard.
And I bought some batting from Walmart. I used this Poly-fil Quilt Batting in twin size and had enough to double it up on the headboard.
I used my staple gun to add two layers of batting and part of one of the curtain panels to the wood to create the new headboard.
I made buttons covered in the same fabric to give the headboard a tufted look and cover the three screws that attach the headboard to the wall.
And here's the new headboard 😀 I'm so happy with it!
And this is where we'll leave off for Part 1, with the finished wallpaper and headboard projects.
You can see that I also removed the doors on the cabinet above the headboard and wallpapered inside as well as underneath the cupboards. I wanted it to feel like we were in a cozy little cacoon-like space and you stare right at the bottom of the cupboards when you are lying there so why not make that pretty too!
I hope you enjoyed part 1 of this RV bedroom makeover, Part 2 is coming soon. I'll be tackling curtains and lighting and giving the finished bedroom tour!
